Thank you to all the many well-wishers who have reached out to congratulate me on my re-election. In my first campaign, I pledged to be fair and impartial and to write clear, concise, consistent opinions, in keeping with the rule of law. I have worked hard to keep that pledge. Running a statewide campaign is challenging during any year, but in the 2022 election cycle, the pandemic made our task especially trying. We made the difficult decision to do no in-person campaigning. This made me sad, because the best part of the campaign has always been the opportunity to see my friends and supporters, to shake hands and give a few hugs, and to be able to travel around this beautiful state and hear the concerns of Georgians in person. Despite this constraint, with the help and support of my campaign committee and staff, my old friends and longtime supporters as well as new supporters from all over the state, the campaign was able to garner support to fend off opposition, and I was able to qualify unopposed. I was re-elected statewide with my largest number of votes ever! And so I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve my fifth term on the court. - Anne Elizabeth Barnes, Presiding Judge, Court of Appeals of Georgia
